Pediatric Dentistry

What does actually pediatric dentistry mean?

Earlier, pediatric dentistry was known as pedodontics or pedodontics. It is the branch of dentistry that deals with children from their birth towards adolescence. We, the dentists, also work towards the betterment of dental health of the children and also work for their education in this particular topic for the parents. Normally, a dental visit should occur within six months after the presence of the first tooth or by a child's first birthday. This is not only recommended by us but also by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). We recommend the checkup to be done on time because early oral scrutinization helps in the early detection of the tooth decay. A timely and initial check fosters to maintain oral health, transform abnormal habits, and cure as needed and as fast as possible. The parents too are given some tips and rules of preventive home care (brushing, flossing and fluorides), risk assessment and advice on stop injury to the mouth and teeth of children, diet counselling, and information on growth and development of the child.

This field of study is one of the most sought for, especially for people who are doing BDS (bachelors of dental science). Pediatric dentistry is one of the ten dental specialities recognized by the American Dental Association.

Services by us:

Oral health exams
Our professional dentists will look at your child's dental health during the examination. They will check the patient's teeth, jaw and oral tissues and see if they need any kind of solutions. Our doctors will also check if there is any kind of abnormality that might lead to future damages. They will let you know if your ward needs a checkup or a follow-up anymore.

Tooth extractions
We know it's painful, but our professional dentists will make sure that you have a pain-free experience. It is the removal of teeth from the socket that is attached in the alveolar bone. These teeth can be no longer treated, and that is the sole reason why they are taken out. We also take care of the post-teeth extraction and ensure that your child leaves with a smile on his face. We insist you do warm salt water rinses for at least three times a day to help with the pain and fasten the healing process.

Dental crowns
Dental crowns or "caps" restore a tooth to its normal size while straightening and protecting it from any more cracks or damage. Crowns opt when there is no option of the filling process. At our clinic, dental crowns are completed in one visit, and they last until replaced by adult tooth.

Root canals on primary teeth
We have trained dentists who perform root canals on young patients. And trust us; we will make sure your child suffers no pain during the process. The procedure involves removing the nerve and pulp of the teeth, and we know you might be scared. But at our clinic, we sterilize and clean every corner of the tooth before sealing it.

Emergency care
Not only do we promise on extra care for your little ones, but also answer your queries over call and chat options. Our online services are 24/7 open to any kind of emergency.

Dental X-rays
X-rays are recommended by us only when it's necessary. Each patient differs from the other, and x-ray procedures may differ by looking at their condition. Our experts are careful not to expose your child to too much radiation. We use modern safeguards, high-speed film, digital x-rays.

Fluoride treatments
Fluoride is used to reduce the risk of tooth decay. It strengthens the weak areas of your teeth. It is present in toothpaste, mouth rinses and varnish treatments. Brushing and flossing should not be done at least for 4-6 hours after fluoride treatment.

Dental cleanings, fillings and sealants
Cleaning of the teeth is very significant for the benefit of oral health as a whole. And this can properly happen only with professionals like a pediatric dentist. During our seatings, we will show you and your child how to floss, brush incorrect way and adapt to great dental health care which your child can learn and take forward till adulthood. We also have great schedules that involve cleaning, and throughout the process, our doctors interact with you and give you details about the cleaning process. The process involves cleaning and removing stains, tartar and plaque from your teeth.
Fillings, on the other hand, are done to restore your teeth using a non-toxic substance. It is made up of durable material like ceramic or quartz or silica. These materials are quite durable and resistant to any kind of damage. It looks quite natural. But prevention is better than getting a filling. You can reduce the risk of getting cavities and other problems by:

  • Brushing twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste.
  • Daily flossing.
  • Eating less greasy food.
  • Limit snacks.
  • Schedule a visit to a dental clinic every six months.
Sealing the grooved and pitted tooth is important as it protects the teeth from bacteria and the acidic environment inside the mouth. They are especially operative on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth where most cavities are prominent in children. The sealing will be checked during the regular checkups by our pediatric dentist.
